On March 4th, 2025, the spirit of patriotism and youth empowerment came alive at Tomefa Basic School as we celebrated Ghana Day in anticipation of the country’s Independence Day. The event was a colorful collaboration between the school and NGAP-NGO, bringing together over 700 students, educators, and community members in a day of learning, creativity, and giving.

The day’s highlight was a vibrant play and choreography performance by the students, whose energy and talent lit up the entire venue. Their presentations paid homage to Ghana’s rich history, freedom fighters, and the importance of youth leadership in shaping the nation's future.

Lawyer Emmanuel Dubik Mahama, Chairman of NGAP-NGO, was the special guest of honor. In his remarks, he encouraged the students to stay focused and dream big, reminding them that every great nation begins with empowered young minds. He encouraged them to dream beyond Tomefa as there is a larger world out there. To the young ladies he stressed that teenage sex and early pregnancy were all tools top keep them from breaking forth in life and they should avoid the small boys tricks and focus on their future.

Adding to the impactful day, Miss Hannah Grant, a health professional and one of our facilitators, gave an engaging talk on sexual health and abstinence, emphasizing the importance of informed choices and the dangers of STIs. Her session was both age-appropriate and informative, leaving students equipped with knowledge to protect their well-being.

As part of our ongoing commitment to education and wellness, NGAP-NGO donated over 700 books and refreshments to the students. The gratitude and smiles from the children were a beautiful reminder of the power of partnership and community action.
